Hello there and greetings from sunny (but quite chilly) Kokkola. Third day here and tomorrow it’s time for me to drive to Jyväskylä for two days of rock practise. Drove here on Friday in, i guess, record breaking time; about 5,5 hours it took me (including a food and toilet break). When i arrived i went straight to my cousins place but only one of the cousins were home, also visited the other ones after i heard about their whereabouts. After some fast food i went and visit my good (and very weird; yet funny) friend Jarno (aka Jape). In the evening i drove with one of my cousins and a friend to Kannus (about 50km from Kokkola), where my cousin, Petri, was playing with his reggae band ‘Kaemo’. Petri has improved so much as an drummer and he totally blew me away with his groove, this kid’s got talent! Too bad the evening got quite cold, but the summer-y reggae music warmed up of course.
On Saturday i washed clothes here and as soon as i got them up and drying i drove off to the city to enjoy some delicious food at the one and only “Pedrina’s” (i’m still wondering when i get my free lunch there after so much hyping and advertising). After this i scheduled a meeting with my old classmate and friend, Mona, and we had some hot chocolate at Robert’s Coffee; was nice to catch up. I went to Jape’s for a while after this. For the evening i had planned a sauna and snack evening together with my cousins and mr Steven Seagal, but for some reason that got cancelled so i went with Jape to Westcoast Billiard (same venue where i played my last Deep Insight show back in 2005) where my friends’ band ‘Novembersoundsbetter’ was playing and they did put on a great show, thanks Guys.
So today on Sunday im going to visit my sister soon and then off to the summerhouse for good food and good times. My parents are organizing an outdoor meeting and i’m setting up (a little part of) my drumkit and play with my dad on guitar, my cousin Mika is joining in on bass guitar. What the rest of the night will hold is still a mystery. Tomorrow i will be driving to Jyväskylä at about noon and returning to Turku on wednesday, straight to weddingbandpractise. The actual wedding is on Saturday; lots of drumming and music for me these days. But now i’m off, see you again soon.
